Few civilians and security personnel were injured in a gunfight with armed men in Sanasabi, Thamnapokpi villages of Imphal East. Heavy firing from Yaingangpokpi Uyokching Hill towards a Meitei village has been ongoing since December 24. In a social media post on X, Manipur CM N Biren Singh on Dec 28 condemned the attack calling it “cowardly and unprovoked”. He further urged calm and unity, assuring that necessary measures are in place to handle the situation.
