An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla in J&K on Sept 14. BJP claimed that Pakistan Zindabad slogans were raised by Congress supporters after Congress Rajya Sabha poll victory. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has strongly condemned the alleged Pro-Pakistan slogans raised by the supporters of Congress leader Syed Naseer Hussain in Vidhan Soudha after he was elected as the Rajya Sabha member. Another terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Baramulla has jolted the valley. Some terrorists on Dec 24 opened fire at a retired police officer at Gantmulla in Baramulla. Notably, this J&K terror attack happened a day after an attack on two military vehicles in Rajouri sector which claimed lives of four soldiers. The slain former police officer was identified as Mohd. Shafi, according to Jammu and Kashmir Police. Terrorists opened fire on the retired police officer while he was offering prayers at a mosque, the police added. The area was cordoned off in the immediate aftermath of the incident, officials said. Meanwhile, additional security forces have been deployed in the Bafliaz area of Poonch district. An operation is underway to nab terrorists in the forest area of Dera ki Gali in the Rajouri sector. Indian Army said that it was conducting an inquiry into the deaths of three civilians in the Poonch-Rajouri sector in the terror attack on Dec 21.

The wreath-laying ceremony of slain head constable Ghulam Mohd Dar who succumbed to his injuries after being fired by terrorists was held in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla on October 31. Kashmir police said that injured police personnel, a resident of Wailoo Kralpora was killed by terrorists outside his house. The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by senior police officials and locals. Following the incident, security officials cordoned off the area and started a search operation.
