France, Germany, Australia, and Canada back Ukraine after Trump-Zelenskyy clash

Donald Trump on Feb 28, European and other world leaders have come out in support of Ukraine. Trump and Zelenskyy clashed in an extraordinary exchange before the world's media at the White House over conflict. Though, Zelenskyy was eyeing the meeting in Oval Office as an opportunity to convince Trump not to side with Russia. Eventually, US President Trump and Vice President JD Vance laid into Zelenskyy, saying he showed disrespect. Reacting to the ‘explosive’ oval office meeting, European leaders leapt to Ukraine President Zelenskyy defence. Several lawmakers and diplomats expressing shock and dismay including France, Germany, Sweden, Australia, Canada etc. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk shared his solidarity with President Zelenskyy said “Ukraine you are not alone”. French President Emmanuel Macron also reiterated his support for Ukraine said “we were all right to help Ukraine’. German new chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz also expressed support to Ukriane said, “We stand with Ukraine”. Australian PM Anthony Albanese also backed Kyiv and said “Australia stands with Ukraine”.

In a new diplomatic low, Canada blocked Australia Today’s social media accounts shortly after it broadcasted a presser involving EAM Jaishankar. India's Ministry of External Affairs criticised Canada for its "hypocrisy towards freedom of speech". Australia Today’s accounts were blocked shortly after airing a press conference with EAM Jaishankar, Australian FM Penny Wong. During the press conference, Jaishankar condemned Canada’s actions, mentioning “unsupported allegations” against India. EAM S Jaishankar also exposed Canada for “unacceptable surveillance of Indian diplomats”. MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal called the timing of Australia Today’s social media blackout in Canada "peculiar and troubling". India highlighted Canada’s inconsistency on freedom of speech, especially when dealing with issues critical of its stance toward India. The EAM's visit to Australia included meetings with business community, CEOs, participation in the 15th India-Australia Framework Dialogue. India condemned vandalism at Brampton’s Hindu Sabha Temple on November 3, calling on Canada to ensure justice. India also expressed concerns about the safety of the Indian diaspora in Canada amid recent attacks on Hindu Temples. The Indian Consulate in Toronto had to cancel upcoming consular camps due to inadequate security.
