Mumbai boat accident: 13 dead, 101 rescued so far | Search ops underway

A ferry capsized near the Gateway of India off the coast of Mumbai on December 18, causing a major mishap. Following the incident, the Indian Navy and Coast Guard launched a rescue operation. As of the latest update, 101 people have been rescued, and 13 have died in the tragic Mumbai boat accident. Rescue teams were seen in videos helping passengers wearing life jackets, transferring them to other boats while the ferry continued to tilt. The incident occurred after a speedboat reportedly crashed into the ferry. Rescue operations are ongoing to save the remaining passengers. Authorities are working quickly to handle the situation and ensure everyone’s safety. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis briefed the media regarding the boat mishap. He announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh for family members of deceased.

Meanwhile, 4 bodies have been recovered, while others are missing. The boat which has capsized was ferrying children from Gandbal to Batwara in Srinagar. 14 killed after boat capsizes in Vadodara's Lake, govt forms high-level enquiry

A boat carrying children capsized in Vadodara's Harni Motnath Lake on January 18. 12 school children and two teachers were killed due to a boat capsizing incident. School children were on a picnic in Vadodara's Harni Motnath Lake when the mishap took place. The NDRF team is carrying out the rescue operations and rescued 20 people so far. Prime Minister Modi condoled the loss of lives due to a boat capsizing in Vadodara. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased. Meanwhile, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel reached the incident site and inspected the rescue operations. The CM has ordered a strong inquiry and relevant sections of IPC have been invoked against accused. FIR has been registered and 9 teams have been formed to arrest the accused. CM Bhupendra Patel also visited the postmortem centre located at SSG Hospital in Vadodara. He also met the families of the children who lost their lives in the boat capsize incident. State Govt has announced Rs 4 Lakhs each for the next of kin of deceased, Rs 50,000 for injured.

Kerala Boat Tragedy: At least 22 people dead as boat capsized in Malappuram

In a major tragedy on May 07 a boat capsized in Kerala’s Malappuram. At least 22 people died in the mishap in the Tanur area of Malappuram, informed Kerala Revenue Minister K Rajan. The deceased and the injured have been shifted to the Government Medical College, Manjeri. Meanwhile, a National Disaster Response Force team has been deployed for the rescue operations. Expressing grief over the incident President Murmu took to Twitter calling the incident “extremely shocking and saddening”. PM Modi also paid his condolences to the dead and announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh for kin of the deceased. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan also condoled the loss of lives in the Malappuram boat tragedy. Indian Navy's ‘Chetak’ helicopter has been called out to assist in the search and rescue operation. Further details are awaited.
