In a tragic incident in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district, 13 people lost their lives after several passengers of the Pushpak Express jumped off their coach due to a suspected fire and were struck by another train. The incident took place on 22nd January, around 4:45 pm. According to eyewitnesses, panic was triggered when a tea seller falsely claimed that there was a fire on the train. He reportedly pulled the emergency chain, causing the Pushpak Express to halt. Fearing for their lives, several passengers jumped off the train and were hit by the Karnataka Express, which was passing on an adjacent track at the time. The Pushpak Express, the 12533 Lucknow-Mumbai service, came to a stop after the emergency chain was pulled. Central Railway officials confirmed the incident, which resulted in the tragic deaths of 13 passengers and left several others injured. In the wake of the tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, while the Railway Ministry announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 1.5 lakh each to the families of the victims. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also extended his condolences and announced a Rs 5 lakh ex gratia for each victim's family. Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole also spoke on the tragic incident. Additionally, the state government will cover all medical expenses for the injured passengers. The authorities are investigating the cause of the false fire alarm and the sequence of events leading to this devastating accident.

In a tragic incident, 11 people died and 5 others were injured as the passengers of Pushpak Express were hit by Karnataka Express. 8 ambulances and several railway rescue vans were sent to the spot in Pachora of Jalgaon district. As per Railway officials, an incident of alarm chain pulling occurred at Pachora following which a few passengers deboarded the train. The chain-pulling incident occurred due to a false rumour of fire in one of the adjacent coaches. At the same time Karnataka Express was crossing through there and going in the opposite direction. The passengers were hit by the second train.

At least 11 people tragically lost their lives, and 10 others were left injured when a truck carrying a group of fruit vendors plunged into a 50-meter-deep valley on Wednesday morning. The accident occurred along the Savanur-Hubballi road, a major route connecting Savanur in Haveri district to Kumta market in Uttara Kannada district, as the truck was on its way to the Yellapura fair. The victims, all fruit vendors, were traveling to the fair in Yellapura to sell their produce, with the truck reportedly carrying over 40 traders at the time of the incident. The vehicle's sudden fall into the deep valley caused severe damage, resulting in the fatalities and injuries. Emergency responders, including local police and rescue teams, rushed to the scene to assist the victims. Dramatic visuals from the location showed police personnel working tirelessly to extricate the injured and secure the site. The victims were promptly transported to the nearest hospital for urgent medical care, with several sustained critical injuries. There was no protective wall along the road in the area where the accident occurred.

The deadly fire broke out at around 3:30 a.m. (0030 GMT) on the restaurant floor of the 12-story Grand Kartal Hotel, located at the Kartalkaya ski resort in northwest Turkey. A deadly fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort in Bolu province, northwestern Turkey. While the efforts are on to rescue the workers trapped in the coal mine at 3 Kilo Coal Quarry in Umrangso area of Assam, second body was recovered recently. Earlier on January 8, rescue teams recovered first body identified as Ganga Bahadur Shreth from an inundated rat-hole mine. At least 9 workers were trapped inside the coal mine after a tragic flood incident on January 06. Joint operation launched by Indian Army, SDRF, NDRF and Assam Rifles was soon joined by Indian Navy. High capacity pumps were employed by the teams to fasten the rescue operation. Second body was recovered on January 11, after water level decreased rapidly in the mine. Water level in the mine reduced by 6 metres after 5 pumps worked overnight: NDRF Inspector. Inspector Roshan Kumar Singh, Team Commander, NDRF, said, “We check the water level every morning. And when we were doing that, we saw a body floating. So we took it out at around 7:30 am. The water level has been reduced by 6 metres. 5 pumps were working overnight. The operation is going on 24 hours.”

The tragic Assam coal mine tragedy that occurred on the morning of January 6 at the Assam Coal Quarry, located in Dima Hasao district has sparked a sense of urgency, with everyone hoping for the safe recovery of those still trapped. After nearly 48 hours of intense efforts, rescuers recovered a body from the mine on January 8. An eyewitness, a former miner whose brother was among those trapped, described the chaotic scene. The incident reportedly happened around 7 a.m., when flooding trapped at least nine miners inside the coal mine. The flooding is suspected to have been caused by the opening of an underground water channel. Following the incident, rescue operations were launched immediately. By January 7, teams from the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy, Assam Rifles, NDRF, SDRF, and other agencies had joined the effort, deploying specialized equipment and medical teams to assist in the rescue. Deep divers from the Indian Navy were also brought in to help with the operation. As the rescue mission continues, teams are working around the clock, using advanced equipment to navigate the flooded mine and ensure the safety of the remaining miners.
