Massive fire hits furniture markets in Azad Chowk, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar

A massive fire broke out early this morning at the furniture shops in Azad Chowk, located in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. The blaze erupted around 5:00 AM in the Central Naka area, which is known for selling furniture and vehicle spare parts. Several shops were gutted by the flames. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control. Tankers of water were brought in to assist with the firefighting efforts as a large crowd gathered outside the burning shops. Footage from the scene showed the charred remains of the affected shops. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. Inspector Dilip provided a brief update on the situation, confirming that the fire has been brought under control, but the cause remains unclear. The Central Naka area has suffered significant damage, but thankfully, no casualties have been reported so far.

In the case related to the murder of 2 people in the 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots, the court has reserved order on quantum of sentence against Ex-Congress MP Sajjan Kumar. Advocate Kamna Vohra said, "Today, in the case pertaining to Sajjan Kumar, before Kaveri Baweja, Special CBI Judge, the court had to hear the arguments on the point of sentence in this case... We handed over our compilation and written synopsis on behalf of the complainant to the court, which has been taken on record... The defence counsel has also been directed to file their written submission within 2 days... The court has fixed the date for pronouncement of order on the point of sentence on 25th of February at 2 pm... The prosecution has prayed for capital punishment to be given to the convict, Sajjan Kumar... The complainant and I also prayed for capital punishment... The reason is that he is already been convicted in the killings of 5-6... This is the second conviction on the same kind of offence, that is the genocide which happened in 1984 where 2 Sikhs were killed brutally and their houses were burnt... The complainant has asked for the maximum punishment, that is capital punishment..."

Gupta’s election marks a historic moment for the BJP, as the party will form a government in Delhi after 27 years. The BJP won 48 seats in the recent Delhi Assembly elections, ousting the Aam Aadmi Party from power. Gupta, a first-time MLA, will become the fourth woman to hold the office of Chief Minister in Delhi. She will also be the only woman CM of a BJP-ruled state or Union Territory at present. Born in Nandgarh village, Haryana, Gupta moved to Delhi with her family at the age of two. Her father worked for the State Bank of India. Gupta began her political journey in 1993 when she joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students’ organization affiliated with the RSS. She later became the general secretary of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) from 1995 to 1996, and its president from 1996 to 1997. In 2002, Gupta joined the BJP and quickly rose through the ranks. She became the secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Delhi and was later promoted to the national secretary of BJYM, holding the position until 2005. Gupta also served as the general secretary of the Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha, the national vice-chairperson of the BJP Mahila Morcha, and the national in-charge of the Uttar Pradesh Mahila Morcha. She has been a member of the BJP National Executive. Gupta holds a degree in commerce and a Master’s degree in management and arts from the University of Delhi. After her oath-taking ceremony on Thursday, she will begin her tenure as the Chief Minister of Delhi.
