PM Modi’s US Visit: PM Modi reacts to the issue of Indian ‘illegal immigrants’

While US prepares to deport 2nd batch of illegal immigrants to India, on the illegal immigration issue, PM Narendra Modi said, "...Those who stay in other countries illegally do not have any legal right to be there. As far as India and the US are concerned, we have always said that those who are verified and are truly the citizens of India - if they live in the US illegally, India is ready to take them back. But it doesn't stop just there for us. These are people from ordinary families. They are shown big dreams and most of them are such who are misled and brought here. So, we should attack this entire system of human trafficking. Together, it should be the effort of the US and India to destroy such an ecosystem from its roots so that human trafficking ends...Our bigger fight is against that entire ecosystem and we are confident that President Trump will fully cooperate with India in finishing this ecosystem."

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron paid a solemn visit to the Mazargues Cemetery in Marseille to honor the memory of Indian soldiers who lost their lives during the World Wars. This cemetery, located in the southern French city of Marseille, serves as a poignant tribute to the Indian soldiers who fought and died on French soil in both World War I and World War II. During their visit, the leaders laid wreaths and observed a moment of silence in respect for the sacrifices made by these soldiers, many of whom came from India’s colonial past. The Mazargues Cemetery holds the remains of several soldiers who were part of the Indian Army and who gave their lives during the wars, fighting in the French campaigns. This gesture highlights the deep and enduring bond between India and France, which has been built not only on political and economic cooperation but also on the shared history of sacrifice and courage during the tumultuous periods of the World Wars. The Indian soldiers who are commemorated at Mazargues were part of the vast number of troops from India who served in various theaters of war alongside Allied forces, often far from home. Their contributions were integral to the war efforts, and many of them made the ultimate sacrifice, defending values of freedom and justice in foreign lands. The visit by Modi and Macron underscores the importance of remembering these heroes, whose efforts were pivotal yet often overlooked in broader global narratives.
