Maha Kumbh 2025 is here and people from across the world are pouring in at one of the biggest religious confluence in the world. The widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs - Laurene Powell Jobs too marked her attendance at the Maha Kumbh. She has embarked on a spiritual journey, embracing Sanatan Dharma and taking the name Kamala, according to spiritual leader Swami Kailashanand Giri. During her recent visit to the Maha Kumbh 2025, Powell Jobs spent four days in a humble Shivir, renouncing her luxurious lifestyle and adopting a simple, vegetarian diet. He said, "We initiated her on 14th January, on Makar Sankranti, at 10:10 pm. One year ago, on 18th February, she was given the name Kamala and assigned a 'Gotra'... She had reached the pinnacle of materialism. Now she wants to join Sanatan Dharma and wants to learn her tradition by joining her Guru. She is composed, simple, and is not arrogant. She stayed in the 'Shivir' for 4 days like a common devotee... About 50 personal servants and staff came with her in two big planes... She is a pure vegetarian, she does not eat garlic or onion..."

Hindenburg Shutdown: Firm that accused Adani group of ‘irregularities’ shut down

Hindenburg Shutdown: Firm that accused Adani group of ‘irregularities’ shut down

US-based Investment research firm - Hindenburg Research, a US-based short seller, has announced its decision to shut down operations. The organisation shot to limelight after it made allegations of financial irregularities on some big - name businesses including the Adani group. Founder Nate Anderson stated, "I have decided to disband Hindenburg Research," citing no specific reason. Experts question the timing of the decision, which comes days before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. Senior advocate, BJP MP Mahesh Jethmalani accused Hindenburg of "economic terrorism" and suggested ties to financier George Soros. Jethmalani alleged that Hindenburg’s actions were part of an attempt to destabilize India's economy by targeting Adani's shares. Former Chief Information Commissioner YK Sinha suggested there was an agenda behind Hindenburg's reports. Advocate PR Ramesh linked the shutdown to SEBI investigations and show-cause notices, emphasizing a conspiracy to destabilise Indian markets. In January 2023, Hindenburg published a report accusing the Adani Group of financial irregularities, leading to a sharp drop in its stock prices. The Adani Group has consistently denied Hindenburg’s allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. Gautam Adani, at an AGM, stated that the group faced "baseless accusations" but proved its resilience against the attack on its integrity and reputation. BJP slammed Congress and alleged that Hindenburg reports were "supari" taken against India's rising economic power. However, Congress said that Hindenburg closure is not a clean chit for Modi, Adani.

Dr S Jaishankar explains how ‘Women empowerment’ led development in India

Dr S Jaishankar explains how ‘Women empowerment’ led development in India

While addressing at the fourth plenary session of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025 Convention, on the topic 'Diaspora Divas: Celebrating Women's Leadership and Influence – Nari Shakti', Minister of external affairs of India, Dr Jaishankar explained how ‘Women empowerment’ led development in India in recent times. He said, “Improvement in National Sex Ratio, paid maternity leave to 26 weeks, the fact that 300 million MUDRA Yojana loans have been given out to women entrepreneurs, that 43% of the enrollment today in STEM is of girls, that 28% has been the increase in the female enrollment in higher education, that 32 million Sukanya Samriddhi accounts have been opened up for education, that 100 million smoke-free kitchens today or that when there is a housing scheme called Awas under which 40 million homes have been built and handed over and 72% of them have women ownership - either a sole ownership or as joint ownership. I am mentioning this because when we think of progress, of modernity, of a march towards Viksit Bharat, one metric of measuring it is GDP, how many roads have been built, how many metros, how many cities, how many airports - that is certainly a way but that is superficial unless we address the human side of that progress and to my mind today, these are really some of the powerful changes which are happening in India. But like any change, they require role models, they require inspirations, they require divas.”
