A shocking incident of robbery has come to light from Vasai in which a jeweller was robbed at gunpoint. The incident occurred on Friday night as thieves looted 50 tolas of gold, worth approximately ₹40 lakhs, from Mayank Jewellers located in Kaul Heritage City’s - Agarwal & Doshi Complex in Vasai at around 9:15 PM. The shop owner, Ratanlalji Sanghvi, was in the process of closing the store and securing jewellery in the locker when two men arrived on a motorbike. Speaking about the incident, Ratanlalji’s younger son, Abhilesh Sanghvi, said, “We are cooperating with the police and are hopeful for a quick resolution to this unfortunate incident.”

A speeding car on Thursday fell into a 20-foot deep nullah in Vasai area of Palghar district of Maharashtra, the officials said, adding that the operations were underway to pull out the vehicle. Sources said that the incident took place in the Madhuban area of Vasai East at around 6 pm on Thursday. Preliminary information suggests that the driver of the speeding car lost control, causing the vehicle to plunge into the nullah, they said.

In recent court proceedings, the 9th Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Thane granted interim custody of six horses to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India following their use in illegal racing on a highway. PETA India filed an application seeking interim custody of the six horses on 8 October after the Kashigaon police station registered an FIR and seized the horses under Sections 291, 281, 125, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Sections 11(1)(a) and 11(1)(l) of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960. The court, acting in accordance with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Care and Maintenance of Case Property Animals) Rules, 2017, notified under the PCA Act, 1960, was pleased to allow PETA India’s application seeking interim custody of the horses and rejected the application for custody of the horses filed by the accused owners in the matter.

There has been a significant upgrade in Mumbai’s infrastructure in the recent times and a brand new RO-RO ferry survive is the latest addition. A new Vasai-Bhayandar Ro-Ro ferry service will be running on a regular basis from 21st February between Vasai and Bhayandar that is going to cut down the commute time between the two destinations to 15 minutes. This is the second RoRo service in the MMR. The first one operates on the Ferry Wharf and Mandwa route. The newly-inaugurated service will ply eight times a day. A teenager, driving a car without license, dragged an on-duty traffic constable on his car's bonnet for about 1.5 kilometres after the constable stopped him for jumping a traffic signal.
