On Friday, in the first semi-final, riding on stand-in-captain Hersh Rall's brace Thakur College registered a 3-0 win over MMK Jr College (Bandra) at St Francis D'Assisi ground, Borivli. Aakash Banerjee netted the other goal for the Kandivli side.
Hersh had to lead the side since their regular captain Dawhoi Dhar was serving a one-match suspension due to the red card he received in the previous game.
In the other semi-final, Marc D'Souza scored twice as St Andrew's beat hosts St Francis D'Assisi (Borivli) 4-0 win over. Someshwar Masurkar and Zidane D'Souza netted a goal each for St Andrew's.
Thakur striker Hersh is confident his team can beat the Bandra boys today. "Dawhoi is our team's backbone, and with him back for the final, we'll be at our best. We lost to Andrew's in the semi-final in 2013. This time we want to change that," said 16-year-old Hersh.
Meanwhile, St Andrew's striker Marc, who stole the show in last year's win too, admitted the final will be a close affair. "We are eyeing the title again but this final will be tough," said Marc.
