The General may trick Aquamarine

Aquamarine & The General, two four-year-olds whose Classic aspirations were nipped in the bud after first Be Safe and later Quasar dominated the elite scene, will now cross swords in the Strenghtostrength Trophy, a class I race to be run over ten furlongs, which is also slated as the feature event of Saturday's eight-race card

Pune: Aquamarine & The General, two four-year-olds whose Classic aspirations were nipped in the bud after first Be Safe and later Quasar dominated the elite scene, will now cross swords in the Strenghtostrength Trophy, a class I race to be run over ten furlongs, which is also slated as the feature event of Saturday's eight-race card.

They are expected to renew the perceived rivalry between trainers Pesi Shroff and Malesh Narredu which will be watched with interest throughout the on-going season. Although I have no doubt that Aquamarine is, horse-for-horse, superior to The General, I doubt if the former will be able to concede a sizable chunk of weight (8.5 kg) to the latter, and therefore, tip The General to win the race.
