The much-awaited results for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017 were declared on Monday. Twenty candidates have scored the perfect 100 percentile. While the same number of candidates got the top score last year, this year's list was more diverse as it had two women and three candidates from non-engineering background.

A total of 1,99,632 candidates appeared for CAT, which was held on November 26, 2017. This CAT had the largest number of candidates in the last three years and was conducted in 140 cities across India. While Saipraneeth Reddy from Andhra Pradesh topped the exam with an All India Rank 1, mid-day spoke to Mumbai's high scorers.
Patrick Dsouza
Score: 100%
After appearing for CAT 15 times and scoring 100 per cent four times, this score is like any other CAT result day for Dsouza. It is his passion to appear for CAT every year to keep himself up-to-date regarding new ways of testing. Dsouza's first ever CAT appearance was in 1996, after he'd completed his Mechanical Engineering from NIT Allahabad. He took admission to Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. "After completing my MBA, I worked for a couple of years and then began my own CAT coaching classes in 2005. Since then, I regularly appear for CAT to understand the pattern of the test," said Dsouza.
Suryansh Bhargava
Score: 99.91%
An IIT-B student, Bhargava was sure of getting a good score in CAT as he had dedicatedly prepared for it. This is the first-ever attempt of the final year student pursuing a dual degree in metrological engineering and material science. "I started gaining interest in the finance industry after getting introduced to it during my internships," shared Bhargava, who started preparing for the exam after completing his fourth year of engineering. "In the final five months, there was rigorous training. I appeared for many mock tests," he added. Apart from studying, he loves to workout and considers playing guitar and singing as the best stress busters.
Utkarsh Gupta
Score: 99.97%
Another IIT-Bombay lad, the mechanical engineering student was confident of getting a good score. Utkarsh, who did not join any coaching classes, said, "It is important to have a strategic approach in answering questions because there is negative marking." Unlike his father Amitabh Gupta, who is a controller of Legal Metrology Department, Utkarsh has no plans to join civil services yet. "I am still to decide on my career goals. But I will, in the due course of time, whether I should join IIM-Ahmedabad immediately or after getting some work experience," he said.
