Bollywood director/actor Farhan Akhtar on Saturday inaugurated the SPJ Sadhana School programme "Lay A Brick, Build A Dream" Project for children with special needs in Bandra.
The idea behind the Brick by Brick campaign is to generate donations and volunteers for the SPJ Sadhana School, who recently got the permission to build additional floors in the school by the BMC. To achieve this goal, Sadhana launched a "brick" campaign where people are invited to buy a brick for Rs 5,000 to add to the school's fund.
The occasion commenced with a warm welcome by representatives of the school and followed by an entertaining dance performance by their children, inspired by Akhtar's film Rock On!!
Geeta Gopalakrishnan, fundraiser for SPJ Sadhana School, said, "Sadhana will reach out to people all over the country and Indians all over the world to lend a helping hand."
Akhtar said, "This initiative is to make people aware to contribute generously for the extension of the Sadhana School who want to make a larger space for children with special needs as soon as possible." Architect Hafeez Contractor will be designing the projects au gratis.
