Covid-19: Mumbai’s fresh cases dip below 500; TPR at 1.15 per cent

After crossing the 500-mark on Saturday, Mumbai saw a dip in new Covid-19 cases and test positivity rate (TPR) on Sunday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 453 new cases were reported on Sunday. The city recorded a TPR of 1.15 per cent and six deaths. All the six deceased had comorbidities and were above 60 years of age.


The doubling rate significantly dipped to 1,057 days on Sunday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 457 people were discharged after full recovery on Sunday. The state’s fresh Covid-19 cases saw a significant dip. As per the state health department report, 2,294 new cases were reported. The Covid fatalities also saw a drop as 28 deaths were reported across the state.


Maharashtra’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 1,823 people were discharged after full recovery on Sunday. The state has 33,449 active cases. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a marginal drop in new cases. As per the state report, 860 cases were reported in the MMR, including those from Mumbai.


Apart from Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR at 74. It was followed by Panvel with 66 cases, Navi Mumbai 39 cases, Thane 45 cases and Mira-Bhayandar 25 cases. Kalyan-Dombivili reported 55 cases. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered three deaths on Sunday. Raigad saw two deaths and Bhivandi saw one.
