Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Nilesh N Rane, a former Lok Sabha member on Tuesday that he is stepping away from active politics, reported news agency ANI.

"I am stepping aside from active politics and there is no reason other than that I don't feel like ruling anymore," Nilesh Rane tweeted on social media app X.

Further in his post Rane said that during the year 2019-20, he had received a lot of love from the people for which he is very grateful and he feels fortunate that he got an opportunity to work in an organization like BJP where he received a lot of love.

"I learned a lot in politics and some colleagues have become a family forever, I will always be indebted to them in life," Rane wrote.

"I have no interest left in contesting the elections," said the former Lok Sabha member.

He further said that critics will always criticize but he would not like to waste his time and others' time when continuing further does not suit his heart.

He further extended his apology to the people who may have suffered any inconvenience or may have felt offended due to any mistake of his.

Rane is the elder son of Narayan Rane a former Maharashtra Chief Minister and current Union Cabinet Minister of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Nilesh N Rane's brother, Nitesh N Rane is the current MLA from the Kankavli constituency in Maharashtra.

Nilesh Rane was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency of Maharashtra as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC).

In the next general elections as well Rane contested from the same constituency but he lost to Shiv Sena's candidate Vinayak Raut and later he joined Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP).

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitesh Rane on Tuesday targeted Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray in connection with the Disha Salian death case and asked Uddhav Thackeray to address the same, reported ANI.

Salian was the manager of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

"Today Uddhav Thackeray will be addressing workers at Shivaji Park, Sanjay Raut says it is the day to speak the truth. So will Uddhav Thackeray in his today's address speak the truth about his son Aaditya Thackeray's involvement in the Disha Salian murder case? Weren't drugs used in the party held before the death of Disha Salian?" Nitesh Rane said.
