From creating a world record by running double stack container trains to timely procuring spare parts for the launch of Vande Bharat, 1988-batch Indian Railway Stores Service (IRSS) officer Prateek Goswami has taken charge as the Additional General Manager of Central Railway on Wednesday.

Before taking over as the Additional General Manager, Goswami served as Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer of Central Railway and also held the additional charge of Chief Vigilance Officer, Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd.
Goswami is a Civil Engineering Graduate from Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, and a Post Graduate from Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay. He qualified the Engineering Service exam in 1988 and joined the Indian Railway Stores Service in 1990.
Throughout his distinguished career of 35 years, Goswami has held key positions in different capacities over Indian Railways and other organisations.
He has a vast experience of more than 18 years in public procurement, contract management and distribution of materials, and has played a key role during his tenure at the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, in procuring components for Vande Bharat Express and ensuring their timely delivery, thereby contributing to the launch of the Vande Bharat Express trains as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As the Divisional Railway Manager of Bhavnagar Division, Western Railway, Goswami was instrumental in introducing and successfully running the First Full Double Stack Container Train on high-rise Over Head Equipment, which is a World Record.
He has a vast experience in the Vigilance Organisation, having served as the Chief Vigilance Officer of the Nuclear Power Corporation Ltd with an additional charge of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) in Bhartiya Nagarikiya Vidyut Nigam Ltd and Deputy CVO in Western Railway. He has also been awarded the 'Vigilance Excellence Award' in 2017 by the Vice President of India in an honour conferred by the Central Vigilance Commission.
Goswami has also served as the Professor of the National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara, where he has imparted training in Material Management. He has enriched his expertise through various training sessions in the areas of Management, Finance, Procurement, Vigilance and Administration at various institutes such as Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Ahmedabad, ISM and Administrative Staff College of India (Hyderabad), SDA-Bocconi-Italy, EML-France, INSEAD-Singapore and ICLIF-Malaysia.
In his new capacity as Additional General Manager, Goswami is poised to leverage his extensive experience to further the development and increase efficiency of Central Railway.
