US vs China: Donald Trump speaks out on a potential war with China

In a recent press briefing, US President discussed dealing with a potential war with China. When a journalist questioned him on “Elon Musk’s plan for theoretical war with China”, he responded that while a potential war with China was not something on the cards, yet if ever it happens, US is very well equipped to deal with it. Trump also admitted that plans for a possible war with China will not be shared with Musk since he has business interests in the same region.

Jaishankar calls terrorism "perennial challenge"

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has called terrorism a "perennial challenge" that "needs to be dealt with a great deal of resolution and commitment." He stated that a plaque in Ireland's Ahakista commemorates the victims of the Air India aircraft Kanishka bombing, which happened off the coast of Ireland in 1985.In his speech on "India's view of the world" at University College Dublin in Ireland on Friday, Jaishankar said, "Talking about conflict, perhaps a word on countering terrorism would also be appropriate, particularly as a foreign minister of a country which has long been at the receiving end of terrorist efforts. Ireland actually happens to have in the village of Ahakista, a commemorative plaque which commemorates the 329, I think victims of the Air India aircraft Kanishka bombing which happened off the coast of Ireland and it's always a reminder that this is a perennial challenge which needs to be dealt with a great deal of resolution and commitment.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte could be facing up to 30 years in prison, or even life behind bars, if convicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity related to his controversial war on drugs, according to a statement from Malacañang. But, as Palace Press Officer Claire Castro explained, this will depend on the defenses Duterte can present in his case. The ICC, which does not impose the death penalty, can sentence individuals to up to 30 years in prison, and in exceptional cases, to life imprisonment.

The arrest, which was carried out under a warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC), represents a significant milestone in the ongoing investigation into alleged crimes against humanity. During a regular press briefing, Chinese spokesperson Mao Ning addressed questions regarding Duterte’s arrest. Duterte, who served as mayor and prosecutor before being president of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022, was taken into custody early on Tuesday. This marks the most significant development in the ICC's inquiry into Duterte's controversial anti-drug campaign, which resulted in thousands of deaths and sparked widespread international criticism. Following his arrest, Duterte was sent to The Hague, where he is expected to arrive on March 12. At 79 years old, Duterte could become the first former Asian head of state to face trial at the International Criminal Court.
