On the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister shared a special message to India, which was warmly reciprocated by India's External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar. This exchange of friendly gestures highlights the growing importance of the India-Iran relationship in the current global geopolitical landscape. Despite tensions between Israel and Iran, with the United States supporting Israel, India has remained steadfast in its historical ties with Iran, advocating for peace in the region. The longstanding relationship between the two countries is built on mutual respect and cooperation, which has only strengthened over time. Since India and Iran signed a formal 'Friendship Treaty' on March 15, 1950, their ties have deepened, with key agreements like the Tehran and New Delhi Declarations in 2001 and 2003. One of the most significant partnerships is India's involvement in the development of Chabahar Port in Iran. The Chabahar Agreement, signed in May 2016 by India, Iran, and Afghanistan, established a vital International Transport and Transit Corridor, further enhancing India's presence in the Middle East. Iranian Ambassador Iraj Elahi, in a February statement, called Chabahar Port the "golden gateway" for regional connectivity, emphasizing its importance in strengthening India-Iran ties. India has already provided around 24 million US dollars in port equipment for Chabahar, with more to come. Iran also plays a crucial role in multilateral organizations like the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) and the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS), highlighting its commitment to regional cooperation on economic and security matters.
16 March,2025 04:03 PM ISTTensions between the U.S. and Iran grew after Trump pulled out of the 2015 nuclear deal, which had limited Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. Trump said the deal was flawed and reimposed strict sanctions under a "maximum pressure" policy to force Iran into a new agreement. Iran saw this as bullying and rejected Trump’s offer for talks, with Supreme Leader Khamenei accusing the U.S. of seeking control, not solutions. In response to U.S. pressure, Iran expanded its nuclear activities beyond the deal’s limits. This deepened mistrust and led to more conflicts, including attacks in the region. Despite Trump’s openness to talks, U.S.-Iran relations remained tense, with little progress toward peace.

24 February,2025 11:38 AM ISTThe ceasefire between Israel and Hamas temporarily stopped the violence in the Middle East. However, tensions could rise again as Israel may attack Iran's nuclear sites by midyear. According to the Washington Post, Israel is expected to launch a preemptive strike on Iran's nuclear program, potentially setting back Iran's progress for months. Key sites like Fordow and Natanz might be targeted. A January intelligence report revealed that Israel could target these facilities after its October bombing weakened Iran’s air defences. 30 January,2025 07:03 PM ISTThe situation in the Middle East remains tense as Iran continues to increase its military activities along its borders. On January 27, Iran began several days of defense drills, which included drones and helicopters, aimed at protecting the country from foreign threats. Over 100 aircraft participated in the exercises, demonstrating advanced defense strategies near Iran’s western borders. This move comes as Iran challenges former President Trump’s approach to the region and his support for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. The question now is whether these military actions are part of a larger preparation for conflict, potentially escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, Trump’s ally. The situation continues to raise concerns about the region's stability.

Over the weekend, Iran held air defense exercises, which are part of a larger two-month military drill that began on January 4. These drills include practicing defense of important nuclear sites, like Natanz, from missile and drone attacks. Iran is also testing new missiles and drones.
