According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Avkash Kumar, nearly 15 rounds were fired during the shootout. Anant Singh spoke to reporters, explaining that a group of poor villagers had approached him, claiming that they were forcefully evicted from their homes by influential individuals. The attackers also locked their houses, leaving them homeless. Singh said the situation quickly escalated into gunfire, but he was fortunate to escape unharmed. He also said that he has called for ‘Bihar Bandh’ for January 12. On 6th January, Prashant Kishor was arrested for “illegal” fast unto death and granted unconditional bail shortly after. He has been hospitalised due to dehydration and infection.
